I enjoyed drawing when I was a kid, but lost that passion during high school and began focusing on engineering. I had a rocky re-introduction to art in 11th grade in Art 1. I realized that what I loved was less physical than studio art and less mathematical than engineering. When choosing my major, I realized that the variety of graphic design projects would allow me to figure out where my skills clicked.
In my third year at Bowling Green State University, they clicked. We were beginning to learn/use Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Aero & Figma. I loved figuring out new programs through trial and error and using that to communicate precisely with my designs. The micro-adjustments, forum deep dives, and finally solving an error were what intrigued me about programs.
If my classmates couldn’t figure out how to do something in After Effects, Figma, etc., I was eager to learn why it wasn’t working and help them.
Post-graduation, I found a job at BluMint, a web3 startup that was putting together a gaming website. I moved to Houston and had the pleasure of working with their developers directly to create website pages in Figma - and occasionally dipped back into After Effects if a new feature or big event was being added to the website.
My time at BluMint wrapped up after a year, and I moved back to Nashville. I currently work for Document Solutions in the Department of General Services for the State of Tennessee, printing all kinds of envelopes, business cards, flyers and booklets mainly for state departments.
When I’m not damaging my posture in front of my computer, I enjoy playing basketball, hiking/biking through trails, or listening to music.
